One of the main aims of this site is to deal with the many rumours which appear in both the mainstream press and on social media. These are often passed off as fact and there is a huge amount of misinformation out there. Some is deliberate (more on that in the future) and some not but we hope to be able to stop these rumours from growing arms and legs before they become a matter of concern for supporters.
One such rumour over the past couple of days has been that next season the Rangers kit will carry Sports Direct as the shirt sponsor. This rumour appears to have been fabricated by a fairly dedicated group of online accounts following the NARSA convention at the weekend. These accounts also put out a fair amount of misinformation about the content of various speeches and Q&A events at the convention. Of course, if you don't have the misfortune of following them on social media you might have missed this, in which case, rest easy. That said it would be easy for people to hear these things and in good faith pass them on.
Rangers will, in due course, announce the state of play regarding shirt sponsorship for next season but, in the meantime, we'd like to reassure our readers that Sports Direct will not be that sponsor.
